Acquiring new customers is one of the most expensive and difficult tasks facing any business. So, building relationships is what becomes most important.

In this tip, Jim discusses building those relationships such as making friends, joining organizations and taking care of your community.
He admits that although he didn’t set out intentionally to just make some new friends, but that was just his style of marketing. It is called Relationship Marketing.

According to an article on Forbes.com, “Relationship marketing is a strategy designed to foster customer loyalty, interaction and long-term engagement. It is designed to develop strong connections with customers by providing them with information directly suited to their needs and interests and by promoting open communication.”

Jim had his own experience with this when he built a relationship with the vice president of a business which then resulted in being a catalyst to getting other work in the future. This individual couldn’t do business with Jim in the beginning, but he moved on to another company and was then able to introduce Jim to other department heads which lead to more work for CCI.

Why is relationship marketing important? Selligent.com says, “With 1-to-1 relationship marketing, the company focuses on cultivating a symbiotic relationship with established customers, effectively building a foundation of reciprocal trust so customers can feel a personal connection to the company brand.”
